On Monday November 19th Will had a renal scan at Memorial Hermann. We arrived at the hospital around 7:30am and got all checked in. The technician came and got us around 8 and brought us back to the room. They had to start an IV, which I was really worried about but Will did great. It took them a few minutes to find a vein but they did and of course Will cried and screamed but only for a minute or two. I think Brandon and I might have cried more than he did. After they started the IV we had to wait about 45 mintues or so for the tech to make up the dye stuff that they were going to put in the IV. Will actually fell asleep while we waited. After they put the dye in they took the IV out and said we could leave but had to come back in 4 hours for them to take pictures of the kidneys. My mom and dad came with us, thankfully, and took us out to breakfast and then we drove around Houston. Being a former Houston firefighter my dad was an EXCELLENT tour guide. We got back to the hospital and went to the x-ray room and for the test Will had to lay still on his tummy. He HATES tummy time, always has, and started screaming bloody murder when we put him on his stomach. Brandon and I just quietly talked to him and stroked his head and after about 10 minutes of screaming he finally fell asleep for the remainder of the test. The tech started taking pictures and said "how many kidney's does he have" and Brandon and I kind of looked at each other and said "two" and the tech said that he couldn't find the right kidney. This was the news that we were really waiting to hear. The test was not an ultrasound, so the right kidney is still there, it just has no function (which we knew) and no blood flow (which is what we are hoping for). This is a good thing. With no blood flow we are hoping that the kidney will eventually just die off. They said that the left kidney looks good as far as bloodflow and everything so that is really good news. We won't know more until we go for our follow up appt with the doctor on January 22nd. But so far the preliminary test results are very positive. Here are some pictures of my brave little man

Aw, poor little guy! Sounds like he was a trooper through all the stuff they put him through.
